Gulberwick Together
Another Great Gulberwick Country Sports Weekend... except for the weather

Country Sports Weekend in Gulberwick
The Gulberwick Country Sports and Activities Weekend took place again this year starting on Friday afternoon 21st May to Sunday 23rd. The events this year were expanded and included baby massage, yoga, jazz dancing, fun factory and a tea dance as well as many of the activities from last year, like clay target shooting, trout fishing, yoal rowing, coasteering, trailer trips, walks and mountain biking and culminated in a barbecue lunch on Sunday.
There were 15 different activities planned for the weekend for active people of all ages and abilities, but sadly quite a few of the activities had to be cancelled due to the bad weather. Yes, this year the weather was most unkind for the whole weekend, with thick mist and heavy rain spoiling many of the activities. Those events that did go ahead were quite well supported and a lot of fun was had by all.
The event was again organised by Gulberwick Together, the local community action group who have been particularly active in arranging community activities and events for the ever increasing population in the area over the last year.
The barbecue this year had to be moved into the hall with tables and chairs and a play area setup for the bairns. It was a quick run out to the food tent, grab your burgers, sausages and salad and run back into the hall to get out of the wind and pouring rain. There were cups of tea and coffee for the adults and juice for the bairns all finished off with ice cream cones for all with everyone having a great time despite the awful weather.
The main organisers of the Gulberwick Country Sports Weekend, Caroline Carroll and Maurice Mullay, would wish to express sincere appreciation to everyone who led the various activities, the clubs who co-operated so enthusiastically and the many extra helpers giving a hand due to the weather and of course, to the many people who took part in the events.
